Reverdie, the Doctor of Rhodes Island. Reminder to all operators to check in on their wellbeing, and to please refrain from pressing them for certain working positions.(Anonymous addendum: I've taken care of it.)
⚠️ WARNING! ⚠️
Lore contains sensitive topics (self-harm, suicide idealogy, trauma) and CN spoilers.
It is highly recommended that you have at least read Lone Trail and Babel.
Reverdie was picked up by a member of the precursor civilization on a different planet long before they began preparing to avert their doom. This small planet had already long been ravaged by disaster, the remnants of a tree seemingly on the brink of death being the only prominent thing left. To their surprise, they noted the tree was slowly healing, and that any deteriorating life or goods brought near it would also gradually begin to recover. Seeking to grow the plant anew, they discovered an area of raised roots during their search for a suitable cutting. A hibernating individual was recovered from within the shielded den. Upon realizing this person possessed the same abilities as the tree, the traveler coaxed them into coming along their journey. Given the name "Spring", they pleasantly surprised their benefactor with their outstanding intelligence and learning aptitude. They seemed able to write and speak in an unknown language, and kept their personal notes using it. Spring soon built a name for themselves as a professor and would later become a spearhead in civilization's continued survival. After landing on Terra, Spring was additionally given charge of observing the local life due to their innate talents, leading them to become familiar with the Teekaz of that era. These same abilities of Spring's also led them to contribute heavily to the Deep Blue Tree project and the creation of Originium with its information-saving capabilities. When the time came to build the sarcophagi, Spring was made a somewhat special one in accordance to their unique traits.During the Babel era, Reverdie would pique Logos' interest due to Theresa's appraisal, their Voynich Manuscript, spells and runes. Both the undecipherable written contents and puzzling casting method greatly intrigued him and the two would form an extremely close bond, choosing to spend time talking together for hours without end whenever they could manage the time. Although Logos could not mimic their "Arts", Reverdie taught him some runes and spells that they had made from Terran materials and language, as well as helping him recover bits of ancient Teekaz history and culture. To Logos' personal beliefs and as a Banshee who greatly values the weight of words, he wanted to decipher the codex and come to understand Reverdie "with their words" as an intimate gesture. As the burden of carrying on the precursor civilization's wishes grew heavier each day, so did the trauma of war. Constant death challenged the life Reverdie loves and witnessing the consequences of war, knowing their hand in it made them feel crawling out their own skin. Subconsciously affected by how others perceived them and actively suffering in a barbaric environment caused Reverdie's inclination of granting "spring" via life slowly began to shift towards death. The "smooth victory" their companions praised Reverdie for became subconsciously interpreted as "efficient slaughter", exacerbated by the fact that the Sarkaz see death as simply another pathway of life, exploiting a loophole in Reverdie's strict unwillingness to desecrate life. Their "Arts" grew out of control, beginning to spawn odd, flower-headed fox-shaped plant familiars that would treat Reverdie amicably, but would not listen to them. These creatures would dig dens in the barrens and battlefields to pose as flora in, emitting Arts that cause surrounding environment to wilt, the effect translating into people by deteriorating their psychological state, ultimately inciting suicide. As Reverdie did not actively choose this change, it drove them further off the cliff to see desperate enemy soldiers claim beauty in death by their hands, committing suicide in front of them in droves- a claim in stark contrast to the visceral ugliness of death and war around them. Since the familiars did not differentiate between friend and foe, Reverdie would be isolated to protect their own soldiers, thus forced to face the tragedies of war alone but unable to extricate themselves, as stepping away would tank Babel's winning chances.
Distress from all sides and being viewed as dangerous by even their own allies manifested more uncontrollable familiars who only served to stress Reverdie more, resulting in an unending cycle. The only ones who could withstand being near them for consolation were Theresa, Kal'tsit and the few Elite Operators with strong, stable mental fortitudes. Scout, Ace and Logos in particular were witness to Reverdie's mental spiral from beginning to end, turning from a tree that gave gifts of life into one mired with corpses beneath it. Kal'tsit even believed that the "life" Reverdie represented was unsuited for the sort of life that thrived on land now. As Banshees were among the subraces closest to death, Logos would attempt to keep Reverdie sane by trying to readjust their perceptions of "spring", life, death and war, promising he would deal out death in their stead so they could bloom with life once more. He is left in uncertain doubt over whether he failed to keep his promise or not when Reverdie would supposedly kill Theresa, unable to receive a direct answer as Reverdie remained comatose until sent to Chernobog's sarcophagus.During the Chernobog rescue mission and for some months after surpressing Reunion and Talulah, Reverdie was afflicted with several short-term health complications which they needed much accommodation for, including severe vertigo, physical atrophy, increased sensory and temperature sensitivity, sudden dormancy, anemia, POTS, and impromptu, uncontrollable shivering. It was incredibly difficult to stir them from 'hibernation', which was much like tree dormancy due to being a "weak sprout"; most of Medical Department gave up in favor of just waiting it out, despite Amiya's worry. After a period of adjustment, their wellbeing would stabilize, though overworking or not engaging in self-care will cause their body to try to enter the dormant state once again to preserve itself. As their conditions are less severe by this point, they can be woken up shortly with an IV drip, and their outer protective coat was redesigned to better suit their conditions, including better breathability and insulation. Rather than a tree growing on its own freedoms, the current Reverdie is more like a bonsai plant; a cutting of what they once were, curated and made to present as a fully grown tree.
Generally a mellow wallflower, Reverdie is content to do their own thing or observe others away from the limelight. Their introverted but pleasant demeanor gives off an aura of learned maturity, compelling people to open up to them whether Reverdie likes it or not; however, their demure appearance can also cause the unscrupulous to assume the Doctor is incapable of retaliation even if angered, or that they're easy to take advantage of. Luckily, no one has ever witnessed Reverdie truly display their full anger, and Kal'tsit hopes nothing will push them that far. Stubborn if they see hope in a situation like a dandelion pushing out of concrete, but just as easily admits losses if effort outweighs the result due to their wandering past spent budgeting; finding resources and cost-efficiency are almost second nature to them.
They enjoy seeing spiritual growth, favoring those who follow their own paths no matter how humble the pace, in turn having a dislike for the brash, hasty and self-imposing. Reverdie has a "home is where you make it" outlook and a tendency to provide personal support to those closer to them like a tree giving shelter, wanting to share joys of the little things with their trusted friends. Their good-willed intentions to provide aid to others has never changed throughout time, always willing to learn new trades and skills to lighten the load off the people around them. This desire to both help and not trouble others is also why they were so willing to exercise post-Chernobog, so they could worry others less both on the field and during the workday. The "spring" Reverdie represents aligns with their belief that life is the process of discovering the self's unique definition of what it means to "live", from special appreciation of a mundane little something to the pursuit of something one found important, the aspirations one comes to harbor to the dreams they had to let go of. A single person will come across many experiences and people in a lifetime- no two people can see things exactly the same, the slightest change in viewpoint being proof of the individuality one cultivates from all they'd brushed against, and the color they will then paint onto others is all precious proof of the "spring" which Reverdie celebrates and cherishes. Such "fruits of labor" includes things like history, traditions and all sorts of culture, particularly those of arts and crafts, literature and linguistics, fashion and culinary. Being unable to turn away from these core beliefs is why they are hit particularly hard by the state of the Sarkaz; persecuted by everyone, anything they build relentlessly destroyed, countless lives fighting to their deaths only to still achieve nothing for their people, let alone themselves, unable to do anything but continue suffering- it all directly opposed what Reverdie stood for. They spent most of their time in Babel marred in gloominess and became an active recluse to the point the elite operators had to break into Reverdie's lab a few times after not seeing them for weeks. Now in Rhodes Island, they are much closer to their original optimism, regaining their tendency to look for the best in everyone while retaining a keen judgement. Strengthened by new viewpoints and life philosophies from the friends they've made, Reverdie is no longer dragged down by the things they fight, or will one day come to face again.
• "Reverdie" literally means "re-greening", and is an old song or poem which celebrates the arrival of spring. In a way, Logos promised to return their name to them during Babel era.
• Their motif, the plum blossoms, symbolize their "spring" the best; these flowers mean perseverance in the face of adversity because they bloom in the middle of winter. Interestingly, it also means "keep your promise" in hanakotoba.
• Heavy inspiration from the Yggdrasil of Norse mythology. The tree is center to the nine worlds it connects to, linking to Reverdie's nine tails. Its three roots extend to the worlds of death, frost-giants and men, relating to the experiences and deep links Kazdel, the Infy Icefield, and Rhodes Island have on Reverdie.
• The Yggdrasil is said to have shielded two humans inside it from the disasters detailed in the Ragnarök, who would repopulate humanity once the world resurfaced anew, tying into the past civilization hoping Spring would help them survive and flourish, and the future told of in Kal'tsit's L2D skin where Rhodes would become an ark to preserve Terra.
• Reverdie's ability to 'purify' the air and keep perishables fresh around them is based off the well of Urd, which contains water so holy that the mud around it is the purest of white.
• The well of Mimír contains wisdom and intelligence, leading to Reverdie's high learning aptitude and ability to quickly process information. The word "Mímir" also stems from the meanings "to think, recall, reflect, worry over", "memory", "the rememberer, the wise one", making it ironic that Reverdie became amnesiac.
• The Yggdrasil itself is said to be the most powerful rune, which is why Reverdie is able to use them. In the distant future when Logos fulfills his promise to understand them, he will be able to cast using Reverdie as a medium.
• Two stanzas in the Völuspá are reminiscent of the future foretold in the Lord of Fiends prophecy (shown in link).
• Reverdie and their original planet drew inspiration from The Little Prince and the fox that appears in it.
• The contents of Reverdie's Voynich Manuscript does not differ much from the original, real-life counterpart. Their version ending up in Leithanien is a reference to the real-life counterpart being named after a Polish-Lithuanian.
• The Ragnarök being "a subject of scholarly discourse and theory in the history of Germanic studies" is loosely tied into the Witch King and Fremont losing sleep over being unable to decipher Reverdie's Voynich Manuscript.
• Their initial personality is partially inspired from the book The Giving Tree.
• Kal’tsit believing Reverdie's concept of "life" is unsuited for times now relates to her first module's lore- "She has lived long enough for life itself to have changed shape [...] Life thrives in barbarity [...]". This is another reason she was so anxious about reawakening Reverdie.
• The hairpin they wore during Babel era is reminiscent of omikuji tying, an act of tying a bad fortune to a tree to purify it or to amplify the luck of a good fortune, and cloth-tied wish trees.
• Reverdie's "Arts" influencing suicide is inspired by tales of cherry blossom trees so beautiful that one would feel blessed to die under it, or that these trees only bloom so beautifully by having corpses buried beneath it.
• Coin trees were a form of wish tree in which people would hammer coins into a tree in hopes it would grant their wish, slowly killing the tree. This is slightly reflected in how the weight of the precursor civilization weighed down Reverdie.
• Dying trees attempt to push out as many nutrients as they can through their roots to care for surrounding trees, and fruit trees will signal their end by putting out a final, massive harvest. This helped Theresa, whose body was found surrounded knee-deep in plum blossoms, realize Reverdie's innermost emotions in the final moments.
• Theresa's line, "You are the only antidote, and you can also be the poison that destroys everything" coincidentally ties into the Yggdrasil's etymology. "Yggdrasil" could either be interpreted as "tree of terror" or "yew tree [of] support".
• The line "the ash Yggdrasil will shake and nothing will be unafraid in heaven or on earth" in the Ragnarök links to no one wanting to see Reverdie pissed off.
• Reverdie's preference for whiskey ties into the word meaning 'water' or 'water of life'.

Their dormancies appear to be one of the patient's unique peculiarities, an innate self-preservation instinct. It is still best it doesn't happen at all, since it occurs due to self-neglect... and while there's no concrete way for me to ascertain this, I once worried that by falling into this state, they might be lulled into a "dream" again. But Doctor Reverdie, you have firmly taken root this time. I believe you can stay "aware". ーKal'tsit
We were all worried the Doctor's amnesia would present difficulties settling into Rhodes Island, and their initial dormancies gave us all another big scare. Now though, I think we can safely say they've integrated well since waking. There have only been minor health-related hiccups in adjusting to work, such as sensory overload migraines and general sickliness, though their 'dormancy' thing isn't so scary anymore.I heard from Amiya that the Convalesence Garden was built partly to help the Doctor, and it really does show. They were quick to take an interest in its developments, allowing them to find friends with the staff working there. The Garden's physiotherapy sessions is one of the things that helped Dr. Reverdie recover, and they regularly continue to enjoy it. They currently hold a Convalesence Garden prime membership and have even applied for a garden of their own to grow their preferred crops, such as coffee, a variety of plants and flowers for teas, and a handful of food crops including a greenhouse dedicated to rice, due to their attachment to Yanese and Higashinese cuisine. They even inadvertently formed a little gathering for coffee enjoyers at some point; the C.O.F.F.E.E. Club (Caffeinated Office Friends For Exhausted Employees). To be updated as time goes by, its members consist of Operators Orchid, Executor, Ch'en, Silence, Enforcer, Passenger, Czerny, Młynar, Penance, Chongyue, Puzzle and Bryophyta. Truth be told, the whole Medical Department are honarary members, but Silence in particular seems to enjoy the 'club', going out of her way to attend. Operator Ebenholz* has been spotted frequently as well after being called to join in on a slow day.Looks like we didn't need to fret about socialization either. Kal'tsit mentioned before the rescue op that the Doctor might be closed off and anti-social, but we're not seeing it. They're reserved and introverted, but happy to interact- it's probably the amnesia since not like Kal'tsit to be wrong, but it's not my business to think deeper about it.

Think about this like I'm easing into retirement. No way I can't even get a babysitting job done. I wasn't there for the history you had with the Doctor before, but I can tell. Friend, you're worried about me. But I saw them already, when the rescue team was docking back onto the landship. The poor thing looked like a leaf plucked out of an autumn storm. They probably won't remember, but I exchanged a few words before they collapsed. Language won't lie, there's no need to let my gun judge any further. Let's focus on Amiya. Poor lass's been stressing herself and the Medical Department out asking for updates on the Doctor's coma. We've all got our hands full.... Logos is in there again? Say, his humming is well and all, but don't you think a kiss would better wake a sleeping princess? Hey now, it's not nice to accuse me of avoiding the topic. I volunteered for the job before even knowing the Doctor's risk assessment? ...haha, busted.[Classified Log]
Dr. Reverdie's "Arts" can be summarized as life-based. It revolves around the concept of spring; what people perceive spring to be, such as new beginnings, what it means to "live", or hope after enduring hardship. Just by being around, the Doctor is able to “invite” new, rare or impossible opportunities, help others innately perceive and thus seize these instances better, capable of changing the trajectory of decisive battles and people's general everyday lives. This information has been classified with a high-clearance level to avoid risking exploitation attempts. [...] The Doctor's blood is unique as well, its properties highly reminiscent of tree sap, including all the health benefits that come with it. Hemostatis seems to turn the sap-like blood into something like resin. The Originium density in their clinical analysis is just a placeholder; it fluctuates between field missions and their body 'cleansing' itself. This information has been classified to avoid Dr. Warfarin from escalating her conduct. [...] In addition, we've observed Dr. Reverdie's 'cleansing aura'. Akin to photosynthesis, a bubble of the cleanest air Terra has breathed in countless era surrounds them wherever they go. This information has been classified to avoid unnecessary hassle from Closure trying to venture into an air purifier business.[Classified Log]
Despite how much the Doctor eats, it's all broken down into energy or nutrients almost immediately. The metabolism is frankly frightening and begs the question of where those nutrients go. The amount of energy replenishment is disproportionate to the amount they eat. This is just conjecture, but... a sapling in a frenzy trying to grow into the spiritual shadow of the grown tree it once was..? No- if this Voynich Manuscript of theirs indicates anything, perhaps those hundred thousand years of age is actually considered rather young.
The Doctor's proposal to allow themselves to lend a more direct hand to combat was met with an unbudging denial from Kal'tsit at first. The operation in Victoria was rough, so we can't say we don't understand wanting to step up, but... well, we all know the Doctor's physical ability, or rather lackthereof. But it appears something has changed after Kal'tsit and the Doctor returned from Trimounts. The proposal was finally approved after tons of meetings and training tests, albeit with dozens of conditions and limitations. The process to bring the Doctor into combat is paperwork heavy, requiring a special request that must be approved by Kal'tsit and at least two of the following persons with good reason: Amiya and the Elite Operators, though Kal'tsit retains final decision. Please note that while Dr. Reverdie has authority to reject and can offer their own opinions, they are not allowed to approve this decision themselves. The extra report requirements all squad members must submit when deploying with Dr. Reverdie into the fray should be incentive to refrain from letting battle become a regular burden to them.'The Doctor is active on the field as a Bard Supporter, providing aid via spellcraft and laying down runes. They are certified in administering first-aid and basic healing Arts; injured Operators who can safely retreat are advised to return to the Doctor's side if they cannot locate a medic. There should be at least one other Operator stationed with or nearby to assist Dr. Reverdie at all times in case a sudden need to evacuate arises.'
ーExcerpt of the required reading guide for deploying with the DoctorAddendum: Aside from assembling squads for regular operations, the Doctor has now been approved for a personal squad of their own. This squad is specialized specifically for the purpose of deploying with Doctor Reverdie to the frontlines. ーPRTS

The question of what the Doctor is exactly has never been definitively answered as far as my memory spans, even the areas I cannot freely disclose- but I will do my best to help you, as I promised the resolve you've shown. There certainly is a lot of credence to the plant theory; one would be inclined to think of 'life' itself if a plant were to have any sort of special ability. While all of Dr. Reverdie's 'quirks' in question are certainly strange, nothing has particularly stepped into the realm of confounding for a 'tree'. We could label these resemblances as 'behavioral abnormalities' caused by their type of Originium 'Arts', and have a convenient white lie.
...The prophecy Operator Valarqvin relayed has certainly reached your ears too. Although we surmised the 'gate' would react this way simply because Dr. Reverdie is 'different', these notes possibly bring a more personal relation to it. You're already familiar with these notes, but you've never seen its entirety. We owe our thanks to Operator Ebenholz; you had confirmed yourself that retrieving these from Leithania quietly was not possible. The drawing on this folio here- though the 'gate' in question looks different, there are some similarities with what Operator Valarqvin described... and it is nestled in a circle formed by nine tails, a self-portrait. Judging by how this page is ordered, it doesn't fall under any of the sections regarding Terra, but rather the one most incomprehensible to people; an astrology excerpt from the personal notes section, full of drawings of flora that don't exist on Terra.I once warned you that fulfilling your promise would mean you would come across things you could never have fathomed......Yes, there are other things that worry me about the Doctor recovering their memories. But if you intend to 'understand' them as you say, then perhaps some of these worries could be put more to ease. You'll definitely see the meaning of that word through. 'There is no one more trustworthy than Rhodes Island's Elite Operators.' But even if such titles were cast aside, there is no one Dr. Reverdie could be happier to trust than you.

• Their tails have always been big and fluffy. Reverdie can carry someone around in them while also effectively keeping them from sight. They have a habit of curling a tail or two around an arm, hugging or holding them as they walk to prevent them from dragging on the floor. When faced with something they like, Reverdie's tails will curl into heart shapes and plum blossoms will pop up on their head. Their tails are also sometimes used to signal battlefield commands.
• Because they constantly generate "life", it gets infused into any foods they prepare, both reducing stress and being very energizing to eat. The taste however, comes from their own skill. Perishable items near Reverdie will not spoil, but the radius is small. It expands as their health and "Arts" expertise improve over time.
• Their runes and spells are, like their life-based abilities, not Arts and instead originate from being a cosmic tree. Reverdie used to be very proficient, even fighting on the frontlines of the Kazdel civil war themselves; however, they could only make use of their passive abilities for a long time after being rescued from the sarcophagus.
• Has a fondness and unusual appetite for junk food, fast food and instant foods. This is due to attempting to subsist on rations during hard times to the point of nausea in the far past. After falling sick, Reverdie started to eat instant and other such foods as an 'upgrade'; the change in diet was so cathartic, it caused an attachment that persists to this day. Priestess is somewhat embarrassed that this is the foremost imprint Reverdie has of their time together.
• The Proof of Longevity is actually a small piece of the previous cosmic tree. It had been with Reverdie ever since leaving it, though it was lost on Terra after they entered the sarcophagus.
• They enjoy sweet, fruity alcoholic drinks and whiskey, particularly Irish coffee. The latter was introduced to them by Logos in the Babel era. Reverdie is oddly capable of drinking whiskey like water, without any hint of getting drunk.
• Enjoys weaving flower wreaths and Yanese knots, a pastime they shared with Logos, who taught them about Banshee knots and the reed wreaths his mother wove for him in turn.
• Their standard protective attire's mask is fitted with a photophobia visor to accomodate their vision sensitivity. Aside from the photophobic goggles they later received, Reverdie also carries a pair of photochromic glasses for mundane use.
• Very used to taking care of a house, owing to having traveled a lot. This heightened their values of comfort and quality of life, leading to an interest in interior design. They have a knack for finding the best places for good eats, where to shop for cheap, efficient housekeeping, an assortment of DIY and recreating recipes of restaurant or store-bought foods.
• Due to their beliefs, they hold food in high regard as a culmination of the "life" they venerate and only cooks for those close to them. However, they themselves are a picky eater and absolutely hates mushrooms. They'll eat around what they don't like.
• Dislikes being cold, harsh stimuli, fungi, mold, bugs and parasites.
• Fond of coffee candy and Pitt's candies. Reverdie prefers the berry flavors for the latter, splitting the assorted fruit flavors to Muelsyse.
• They like to create miniature DIY. It is a form of "home" or a dream, an expression of "where your roots lie" or where one wants to be. Reverdie will sometimes make custom houses and gift them to people who aspire towards a dream to cheer them on, or to those who had given up to console them. It may be hard to face a dream that's been given up on, so some people end up destroying it out of grief; if it's for emotional growth then Reverdie does not mind and understands sometimes a material action is needed to move on, but they can't help but feel a little bummed out about the time, effort and costs that went into it.
• Reverdie's tails prevented them from being able to sit properly in their office chair at first, and their stubbornness caused them to get stuck in the chair on their first day of work. After trying a swathe of alternatives ranging from stool chairs to beanbags, they eventually got a sofa from Closure. As Reverdie had no money to speak of yet, Closure arranged a "super extremely generous no-interest" payment plan for them.
• Initially used the standard shower products Rhodes Island hands out until they were indirectly gifted a heaping basket of hair and fur care products from Logos, to which Reverdie then switched to using the brands of. They were told it was a "welcoming gift"; Logos made himself busy shortly after.
• As Rhodes Island was still just coming out of a rough patch, Reverdie was pretty broke for some time after resolving things in Lungmen.
• Has a morning routine of 'photosynthesizing' on the deck after breakfast with a mug of coffee before getting to work in their office. They say it helps them wake up. Similarly, they try to end their workday with a cup of tea out under the twin moons. Later, Logos and Muelsyse would sometimes join them in sunbathing.
• Likes to use the HR Department's duffel bag when going shopping, much to the department's inconvenience when they need it to haul recruitment and headhunting files. Reverdie was eventually given their own.
• Regular visitor to the gardens, and the first to alert its caretakers if there are bugs due to Reverdie's dislike of them. They like to squat near the flowers, causing them to have been accidentally watered multiple times.
• After regaining some expertise in their abilities, Reverdie would generate their own plum blossoms to dry for tea. It seems to have a unique flavor and many relaxing effects.
• Made their office as homely as possible, paying for the addition of a kitchen area and a kotatsu as soon as they could afford it. (❊ Image may not reflect everything detailed of the room due to in-game customization restrictions and/or limited to the furniture available.)
• They are fond of sofas, lounge chairs and other large resting spots they can stretch and relax their tails on. Reverdie sometimes lets their friends use their tails as pillows and blankets.
• One of the many who prefers to stuff their storage cabinet with snacks, though they're hidden under the documents needed for work. They can regularly be seen rolling it along between their room and office for work hours.
• While Reverdie appreciates help, they generally have no problem if assistants don't contribute much paperwork-wise. Assistants are instead usually asked for small tasks and errands like brewing coffee, fetching or delivering things and workspace or schedule organization. Due to the little work required and overall coziness of Reverdie's office, several operators wanted to be assigned assistant- a plum job, if you will. Unbeknownst to Reverdie, this position vying was put to an end by Logos.
• Took a shine to the giant cat tree and bought one for their dorm room. They like to review the day's files whilst lounging on it. (❊ Image may not reflect everything detailed of the room due to in-game customization restrictions and/or limited to the furniture available.)
• They used to sleep in a futon bunk bed before switching to a regular bed. They kept the futon bedding and the sofa however, the former placed atop the wooden roof of their new bed, where they sometimes like to sit, and the latter moved to another corner of their dorm.
• A collection of books in Reverdie's room belong to Logos, who occasionally sits in their rocking chair to read.
• The lights in both their dorm and office have had their brightness levels adjusted to prevent Reverdie's sensory sensitivity from eye fatigue. It is not uncommon for only one or two of their office lights to be lit at a time.
• After their health stabilized, Reverdie's appetite began to grow, their body able to quickly break down what they ate into nutrients. How much water does a cosmic tree need?
• They tend to stop in their tracks at every restaurant or food-serving spot that catches their eye. At one point, Operators tied balloons to the Doctor so they could be easily found during crowded festivals and other celebratory events. Logos would later become the most reliable locator, owing to the myriad of charms and gifts he's layered Reverdie with.
• After trying to ask around who 'Priestess' was to no avail, the few pages of their old notes were returned to Reverdie, but only served to spark feelings of fond nostalgia.
• Was decidedly very unhappy during the Kjerag incident as Reverdie gave Silverash the benefit of doubt that they were truly there for a vacation until they pulled into the station, not liking having to work on time-off on top of being cold. They applied for a "short nap" lasting "a decade" after returning, which was promptly rejected by Kal'tsit. Their work schedule was instead adjusted for a period of time to allow more rest.
• Applied to take Scout's scope out from the storage room, where it is now kept in their office's desk. Reverdie would later take it along with them to Victoria.
• After the Victoria incident was settled, Logos would gift Reverdie the Celtic love knot from his traditional Banshee garb, tying it around the base of one of their tails before leaving for his next field mission. Several protective spells have been cast on it, and it would become part of Reverdie's everyday wear. They would later return this present by gifting him a custom glass dip pen. It would much later be adorned with wood carved from Proof of Longevity, by Reverdie's offer. It inadvertently helped Logos understand how the Doctor's spells worked, setting the groundwork where he would be able to cast with Reverdie themselves as an Arts medium.
• Sometime in the period Rhodes Island would come to oversee the Sami expeditions, Reverdie and Logos would create their own alphabet, primarily used when writing each other. The invitation letters that expedition groups hand to Logos during IS4 chance encounters are one such instance. Reverdie uses it to sneak him cute messages with the explorers none the wiser.
• Strategy meetings with both Reverdie and Logos present are known to make its other participants drowsy; both of them have nice voices and have no qualms thoroughly discussing their points.
• Reverdie once gifted Logos a set of featherbeast figures as a stocking stuffer. They sit in a neat line on his workdesk.
Good Friends:
• Ebenholz
Reverdie came to look after Ebenholz somewhat when he first boarded the landship. Their views on life helped him gradually take to heart what Kreide meant that he would always deny defining their lives as tragic, and that they were rather lucky instead. Ebenholz notes "the old man" gets irritated for some reason when around Reverdie, so he happily hangs out with them all the more. He learned how to prepare tea and brew coffee from his time as an assistant, during which he also had freedom in choosing the playlist for the office's speakers much to his joy in further annoying the Witch King. After the events of Zwillingstürme, Ebenholz would retrieve the rest of Reverdie's Voynich Manuscript to return to them.• Kal'tsit
Kal'tsit was in utter disbelief over the happenings of Babel as it not only betrayed Babel's cause and her trust, it was a complete turn of what she knew Reverdie stood for. While Kal'tsit treated Reverdie relatively amicably before Babel, the incident had quashed any personal trust she held in them. Over the months and years, she would ever so slightly soften her judgement of the amnesiac Reverdie due to Amiya's plea to treat them like a new sprout, joined by Logos and Outcast. During this time, Logos had brought into consideration the idea that perhaps they equally failed to support the Doctor in the past- that because to them, the tree was mature and stood on its own so they never considered disease could eat away at its roots. Kal'tsit also reached an agreement with Reverdie over their appetite, limiting how much they could eat out of concern the Doctor would 'outgrow' the 'pot' that Rhodes Island could offer, unable to expand in time to accommodate. She turns a tacit blind eye to Reverdie's several snack caches in their dorm and office, but just as easily punishes them by taking it away. After the Trimounts incident, Kal'tsit would decide to help Logos investigate Reverdie's origins, both to help him keep the promise he made and so they could identify and be more prepared to support Reverdie in the ways they needed.• Kjera
She took a liking to Reverdie during the Snowcap incident, and occasionally makes time to chat with them like an auntie. She noted how unhappy Reverdie was in the cold, and took extra care in knitting them a scarf. Although neither of them quite know what Reverdie is, Kjera feels a sort of kinship with them over representing seasons. Her requests for Reverdie to loosen their cross feelings towards Silverash over the wasted vacation time during the incident eventually paid off.• Ling
Fond of Reverdie for the touches of poetry influence in them, such as their name, their love of the little aspects of 'life' and above all, the peach plum wine they brew. Although Reverdie did not understand it, Ling once mused she thought spring's breeze would never touch upon war, and said she had yet still more to see with a smile. Although not as clearly as Shu, she has a sense that Reverdie is something different, wondering if the Doctor would return to face their origins too one day.• Perfumer
One of Reverdie's first friends aboard Rhodes Island. Reverdie greatly supported her in taking charge of the Convalesence Garden and its following developments. They help Perfumer test out aromatherapy concoctions, giving a second opinion from one person with a sensitive sense of smell to another. Perfumer asked to examine the plum blossoms that Reverdie blooms as they not only had a unique scent, its characteristics were also unseen before- though to her disappointment, she found they could not be grown. She likes to joke that caring for the Doctor is no different from how she looks after her plants.• Podenco
She was determined to be able to grow Reverdie's plums somehow. After presenting a plethora of soil mixtures, environment changes, nutrient solutions and more, Reverdie finally convinced her to put her energy elsewhere. Instead, Podenco settles with requesting their blossoms for recipes and other potential uses; Reverdie's special plum tea paired with her flower cakes sees high demand in the Convalesence Garden's patrons. The Doctor helps Podenco come up with new things to make with flowers, and has translated the relevant recipes they had written in their old notes for her.• Qanipalaat
He's fond of Reverdie for their patience in answering his questions and showing him how to use new technologies despite how busy they are. Pleasantly surprised at how much Reverdie knows about outdoor survival, Qanipalaat wants to join them on a camping trip together someday. He helps the Doctor harvest their crops, assists them in drying plants for other uses, and likes to bring in plants he picks from Sami to see what Reverdie or the Garden could do with them.• Quercus
At first mistook Reverdie as a fellow Druid priest. When she learned of the Doctor's belief in the value of life, Quercus quizzed them on the harshness of death and if their 'life' would lose against it, coming off harsher and more persecuting than she intended. Noticing she was unusually emotionally charged, Reverdie talked both their standpoints out despite having no answer for Quercus yet, hoping the two could help each other find what they lacked to drive away their own 'decay' and doubts. Jokingly asking if Reverdie would like to become a 'real Druid', Quercus tells them about Druid legends and associated rituals in hopes that its history would continue to be passed down through them. Reverdie has yet to figure out what to plant in the flowerpot they were gifted.• Saga
Hardcore foodie buddies. Saga had heard tell of a nine tailed Vulpo who did much for her homeland of Higashi from the head monk, and had a sense that the individual spoken of was Reverdie. Reverdie respects Saga's pure, learning but enduring philosophy, and hopes she will remain true to herself and her path throughout all. Somehow, seeing her brings an odd sense of faraway familiarity in the Doctor that they can't quite understand. They like to wind down with Saga, whose clear-mindedness helps Reverdie sort through their own cluttered thoughts accumulated from work.• Theresa / Civilight Eterna
Theresa used to be the one who saw Reverdie cry the most. She knew they deliberately hid their sorrow from Amiya, Kal'tsit and even Logos if they could help it, but it's not easy to deceive Theresa. But a shoulder to cry on was far from enough to help Reverdie, and both of them were oft busy with their own work. Although Civilight Eterna is not truly Theresa, she makes a point to let Reverdie know she'll always lend them an ear.• Touch
One of her first impressions on Reverdie was sitting them down with a table of vegetables to see what they were okay with eating, due to the Doctor having turned their nose up at several greens included in their diet plan prior. Touch respects Reverdie for their knowledge of life sciences and is curious about their Arts. Kal'tsit advised her that the inner workings of Reverdie's Arts are at best known by as little people as possible. Instead of using her findings to publish new research papers, Touch contributes them to help Logos. By request, Touch explained how her Arts achieve its healing effect, to which Reverdie then used to promptly figure out how to heal with their own 'Arts', leaving Touch stunned. She almost persuaded the Doctor to become a Medic Operator on the spot, but settled to instead have them taken in as a medical intern.Friends:
• Bagpipe
Reverdie asked her to help maintain their greenhouse and garden whenever she could spare the time. In return, Bagpipe asked to plant some potatoes as well, which the Doctor happily obliged to. Reverdie volunteers to taste-teste the improved rations Bagpipe tries to cook up, as well as helping her affirm her casual wear fashion sense. The two can sometimes be found cooking their harvests in the cafeteria or even in Reverdie's office, and occasionally going out to the farmer's market together. Bagpipe is especially fond of and appreciative of Reverdie's ability to keep nearby foods fresh.• Blaze
She called Reverdie a normie at first for being an uninfected. After coming to approve of them, Blaze likes to scoop them up into hugs with the excuse of sharing body warmth for the easily cold Reverdie, though half the reason is because she likes their tails which she dubs 'fluffers'. She gifted them a handwarmer once the weather started getting cold.• Flamebringer
Didn't get along well at first due to misconceptions on both sides; Reverdie thought Flamebringer was too merry about the taking of life, and Flamebringer thought Reverdie was too weak for the cycle of life, something he was convinced of considering what happened to the Doctor during Babel. Over time, the two found more opportunity to interact and came to acknowledge each other's viewpoints, going from tedious fellowship to stubborn friends with a key difference.• Jaye
Having been introduced by Hoshiguma, Reverdie frequently ate at his finball stand during the Reunion suppression operations in Lungmen because it was good food for cheap, much to the coincidental surprise when Jaye later boarded the landship. He usually never turns down Reverdie's requests for food, leading to him getting temporarily banned from feeding them when their appetite first skyrocketed out of health concerns, before Medical realized the sudden change weren't bad implications.• Lessing
Was initially alarmed by the amount of curses and spells layered on Reverdie and some parts of their office during his first day as assistant. They like to browse new music releases with Lessing during breaks. He recognizes their Voynich Manuscript as something his mentor once threw a fit over, though the Doctor asks him to keep the fact it's theirs a secret to avoid hassling from the liches. If work in Kazdel crops up, Reverdie always ask if Lessing would like to accompany them as a 'work-cation'.• Luo Xiaohei
Xiaohei notes that Reverdie 'feels' like a spirit. He once wondered aloud if that was their 'main body', but quickly brushed the idea aside as he wasn't sure of the accuracy of his guess; he only vaguely feels that the Doctor at the very least used to be something bigger. He enjoys hiding in their tails as his cat form.• Mechanist
Fond of the miniature DIY creations Reverdie makes, Mechanist has a tiny model of his own equipment and workbench made by them sitting in his dorm. He seems to have something he wants to tell them, but he curiously always bites his tongue mid-sentence, then gives up afterwards.• Reed
As the topic of life and its value was something Reed struggled with, Kal'tsit had suggested to Reverdie to try speaking with her in hopes that it would also help Reverdie solidify their own beliefs in the process. Reed's free time outside the Medical Department was briefly spent as Reverdie's assistant, where they would share their thoughts and inner values- or in Reed's case, the lack thereof, to each other. Reverdie recounted their times with Outcast to her, hoping to shed some light on why she might have saved Reed, including what the Sankta had told them when the Doctor themselves was doubting their own worth. While Reed only ever quietly ruminated on their conversations, the growth was apparent when she later re-established contact with Rhodes Island. She sometimes takes up the assistant position for old times' sake, offering much more to talk about; from her growing ideal Tara to asking for agriculture and farming advice. She wove Reverdie a storage box as thanks.• Rosmontis
Reverdie offered to have Rosmontis grow flowers in their garden in attempt to help improve her memory by doing routine care. Later, in order to help herself not forget Scout, she asked Reverdie to teach her how to make little things like hair accessories. Rosmontis was the first supporter in favor of Reverdie undergoing Operator training, thinking she'd have a new training partner to go all out on besides Logos, due to having heard the Doctor's spells were outside of even the Banshee's knowledge. Although Reverdie is still a ways off from regaining that level, they're now pressured with not wanting to disappoint the little Feline. Rosmontis was gifted a little cat figure to sit on her desk.• Stormeye
Reverdie first came to him, asking to tell them about Scout and Ace. Their friendship bloomed over stories at the bar, though the Doctor often gets relegated to juice. As Stormeye is familiar with heightened senses due to his Arts, he helps make sure Reverdie isn't pushed to migraines by their sensory processing sensitivity. He suggests measures they could take to help prevent it or ways to relieve symptoms, as well as asking Mechanist to fit them with a pair of photophobic goggles.• Pith
She greatly shared in Reverdie's ideals during Babel, agreeing that 'home' and 'family' is what one chooses it to be, regardless of things like race or status. Although Pith understood Reverdie's spiral was borne of grief for the Sarkaz, she was unable to help them recover in any significant way. Determined to show support for the Doctor in some way now on Rhodes Island, Pith tries to make time to help advise Reverdie in their field combat lessons.• Virtuosa
She gave Reverdie and Logos a musical score to Nocturne 'Promised Land', saying it was a shame she was banned from playing for them. (source: Virtuosa's third Archive File). She was also one of the more worrying applicants who requested to be in Reverdie's personal squad due to Kal'tsit worrying over what might happen if Virtuosa 'plays' Reverdie. Following her promise to refrain, Reverdie also assured Kal'tsit that the melodies Virtuosa seeks to hear are perhaps not so different from the spring Reverdie pursues, leading to the Sankta's acceptance into the squad.
• Other:
• Reverdie saw FrostNova off with a stream of flowers they bloomed.
• They fully intend to take up Beanstalk's offer to adopt a metal crab in the future.
• Reverdie helped Aosta set up and organize his new DIY room.
• Laurentina is fond of the amount of sentimental detail that goes into Reverdie's miniature DIY crafts. At the same time, it is this same love that goes in the details that Reverdie supports Orchid's designs. Viviana likes to commission miniature crafts from Reverdie for her plushies.
• Reverdie enjoys learning origami from Kazemaru. Hibiscus, Shamare, Suzuran and Ceobe sometimes join in.
• Before Muelsyse, Reverdie's main shopping partner was Blue Poison. Not wanting her to spend time alone, Reverdie worked hard to have expendable savings. Later, Glaucus, Indigo and Ambriel would occasionally tag along.
• A bonsai gifted by Kafka is in Reverdie's office. A miniature Colossus from Mudrock likes to sit by it. Reverdie greets the little fellow every workday and bids it a goodnight every clockout. Similarly, a small water clone of Muelsyse who keeps watch over Reverdie's crops is also greeted daily.
• Ifrit often asks Reverdie for advice on bonsai care. The two built a miniature zen garden together along with Rosmontis.
• Meteor often can't help but worry for others making Reverdie out to be a doormat and is commonly assigned their bodyguard.
• Skadi was drawn to Reverdie through understanding the feeling of being different than others, estranged and speaking a language people don't understand. She taught them some Aegerian songs and hopes they would teach her their language in return someday.
• Santalla likens Reverdie to Rhodes Island what a sacred tree is to a Sami tribe. As she had adopted Rhodes Island as her new tribe, she felt the need to protect Reverdie as a result, applying to join their personal squad.
• Dur-nar is Reverdie's fitness trainer. She likes to give them snacks both as a reward and because she thinks it's cute seeing how elated they look to eat junk food- though she does treat them to proper meals at times. Reverdie's exercise partners are primarily Fang, Beagle and Jessica.
• Reverdie has consulted Astesia for inks, Beeswax for horn care, as well as trading their special plum tea and cakes to Lin in exchange for glasscrafting lessons, all in efforts to create selfmade gifts for Logos.
